I was "THIS" close to staying home yesterday....but WOW am I glad I decided to go to the game!
GREAT game! Tech has a nice stadium and their fans and students are 100% behind the university, and always have been (we could take a page from their book in that regard).
The Demons sure made me eat my words and I NEVER expected that outcome and I couldn't be more happy to be wrong!
The Spirit of Northwestern was ON POINT yesterday too. Halftime was great! And the band ROCKED that stadium!
And lastly, I wish LaTech well with the rest of their season and hope they take down Auburn!

The largest crowd in their history...because of the rivalry! Over 3k Demon fans. We are every bit as supportive as they are.

What I mean is we can't get our own alumni and students to come to the games in Natchitoches...we'll show up if we play teams like TCU or Tech but not for Nicholls or McNeese.

They have some pretty pathetic crowds when they play the likes of FIU and those other sun belt teams now in CUSA. Can't compare what they got last night to us playing a conference member when they draw poorly as well.

What a great story though. We are mocked and belittled by tech alums in North Louisiana..I've heard it all from juco school to double directional JV team, and we rise up and beat them at their place
We don't have the talent, the big name coach, Manny Diaz as a defensive coordinator, or a Terry Bradshaw as a high profile alumnus. The shreveport times kisses their ass, and they look down their noses at us and most of them show us absolutely no respect.
We have Jay Thomas and maximize what we have to work with…Our players resolve is a reflection of the coaching staff. We dressed 4 freakin defensive linemen two of whom were freshmen walk-ons and they played their ass of and DESERVE this win.

The great part is we won a football game. The sad part is Tech fans are melting down so badly over it, they refuse to see the truth. And the truth is they're not the only FBS team we've beaten. We've beaten Sou Miss, Boise (2x), TCU, ULL (2) and ULM (3). We've also come very close to knocking off Ole Miss, Central Florida and Tulane -- three games we actually had in hand or were on our way to winning before they got away at the very end. We've given highly ranked teams like Missouri in 1998 all they wanted. Yes, we've been blasted by FBS teams, as well. That's all part of it. We're not some fly-by-night FCS program. Yes, we've been down for awhile, but we've put MANY players in the NFL and have had some pretty salty teams in the past. So, Tech fans could save themselves a lot of post-game grief in two ways -- learn to respect ALL their opponents and stop being so delusional that their program is on a level it truly is NOT on. I mean, if we had their resources, we would have done as much damage as they've done in FBS, at least. I respect La Tech and some of their fans are class acts, but several of their fans have absolutely just shown their entire ass over this loss to us. The truth is they've lost to two FCS teams in 15 years and have almost lost to FCS teams a handful of times, in between those losses. Maybe they should rethink the status of their program and be realistic. I don't know. I wish them the best, but it's time to move on and step off the ledge. I mean, Auburn is waiting.

There is no sad part about the Tech fans melting down about the loss. They got their buts kicked, plain and simple. This one won't go away regardless if they run the table. As they indicate on BBB, this sets them back 10 years. The loss to SFA in 2000 also set them back 10 years. So they are at least at 1994 level by Tech math standards. There is rioting in the streets in Ruston (well, maybe not physically but certainly on BBB). The aftermath is turning out to be just as good as the win last Saturday night.

The funny thing is that some of their fans fail to accept that the majority of Tech fans would prefer them play against NSU, ULM, ULL and McNeese as opposed to New Mexico, ECU, Marshall, FIU and FAU. The proof is in the attendance. They fail to accept that their fans were way more excited to see NSU at their stadium than anyone in Conference-USA and that is their downfall.
They have some great fans at Tech but a good portion of their fan base (and Terry Bradshaw) is extremely delusional and do not realize that in the world of college football they are no more than a glorified Sun Belt team. The only reason Conference USA invited them in was because of a mass exodus of teams.
The CUSA they are in is nothing more than Sun Belt II. They days of TCU, Cincinnati, Houston, Tulane, UCF, Louisville and teams breaking into the top 10 are gone.
They didn't respect us and we knocked them down a peg and amazingly they still don't respect us. They will draw a fraction of the fans they got against us the rest of the way. The low crowds won't be because they lost to us, it will be because of their own ego and they deserve every bit of it.
We wrecked Tech and it feels awesome.

Hello TrackDemon! I'm the Tech fan who wrote the article on LaTechReport.com. Thanks for the compliment, although I wish I didn't have to write part of the piece for obvious reasons. The college football game in Ruston on Saturday was fun...except for the final score. The crowd and the atmosphere at the game were great. Northwestern State absolutely supported their team with the band and crowd that traveled to Ruston. Some football programs in the FBS ranks would be overcome with pleasure if they had the kind of support on the road that ya'll did last Saturday. While I don't see Tech and Northwestern State playing each other every year, I could be okay with a game in Ruston every 3-4 years with a "State Fair" type of atmosphere. Anyway, congrats again on the victory.

As I got in my vehicle to drive home I found the LaTech radio station and the post game show and call in show announcers were complimentary of the Demons and gave credit where credit was due. I was pleasantly surprised.

Tech Alum, really good article. I've found many of the Tech fans I've talked with to be very complimentary. NSU has drawwn some good crowds on the road and for some big games. If we can take care of business at Southeastern in 2 weeks I can see the crowds at Turpin starting to grow throughout the year. People WANT to support NSU, they just need a reason to do so.
I still think Tech will be in the hunt for the CUSA title and bowl berth at the end of the year, best of luck.
