Look Topper, keep to your area of the woods. If Tech loses to Northwestern, AD McClelland will be hiring another coach away from their athletic department. We are proud dawgs and your front yard is our porch. Sorry not sorry for our fanhood!!

All good Techster.
I just hope our boys show up ready to play and are competitive. Last year was not a fun one for the Demons.

I liked what I saw from the Demons. Game changed when Almond went out. We just need to settle business against Grambling and get some momentum going.

Nice effort for three quarters. Didn't expect a win this year and the final score was about what I expected, but not the way it happened. When Almond left the game, we looked lost and it showed. We have a chance to win a few games this year, I think. We shall see. Hard to tell about first games anyway. LaTech has Miss State and we have Grambling next weekend, respectively. So, we'll know a lot more about our respective teams by this time next week.

Up until Almond went out of the game I was pleasantly surprised with our effort and execution. Of course we traditionally will "play up" to our foe so I fully anticipate us to play not as well next weekend against Grambling (not saying we're superior to the G men...just that our play is relative to the opponent).
I also have another comment on the LaTech game...and this is an opinion that I've held for years despite my dislike for the avg. "I'm better than you" Tech grad, but their alumni base has traditionally for decades been more proud and supportive of their alma mater. So many students come and go from NSU and don't have any connection to the university. This is a HUGE problem and you can see it in the lack of support or giving two flips once they graduate. I know they have a larger school but NSU has tens of thousands of alumni in the SBC - Alexandria area and in between and other than the nostalgic trip to Natchitoches every year or three they won't be found on campus for a game or spreading NSU's name.
What does Tech do differently to ingrain their students into being Bulldogs? I know this hasn't ALWAYS been the case but at a certain point in history Tech started to thrive and NSU became stagnant. I'm guessing somewhere in the late 70's/early 80's. Tech and NSU up until the 70's had similar enrollments as well.
Is it because they play in the upper level of football and in a more nationally known sports conference? Is it because people who attend LaTech come from multi-generation Tech graduates? As opposed to a lot of people who attend NSU are first generation college students? When I was in school I also got the impression that the avg. NSU student was at NSU because they couldn't get or afford LSU. Is it the lack of success by our sports programs? I mean we have the occasional SLC title but those are getting fewer and far between.
Is there something I'm missing? My wife and I loved our time at NSU and

Marketing. They market themselves as one of the "big boys". They were able to get Shreveport media to treat them as a viable number 2 behind LSU while we were left with scraps.
They have had "home games" with Texas A&M and Miami with Mississipp State coming in next week. Last time I can remember us having a "major" program visit Natchitoches was a decade ago when Utah State came to Prather or when we hosted Appy State and North Dakota State in football.
Hard to generate interest and excitement when you haven't had much success in 10+ years and no big home games to generate excitement.
I do know some people that went to NSU and wear NSU gear and talk about the Demons quite often. I also know a graet deal of NSU alumni who wear nothing but LSU and only talk about the Tigers. Going to be hard to bring those people back in.
I absolutely loved my time at NSU and would love to be able to return in some capacity. Great place and I wouldn't change that for anything else.

TrackDemon has hit the nail on the head. DTNSU had a good point in the form of this question: "As opposed to a lot of people who attend NSU are first generation college students?" I am a fourth generation Demon. We are fanatical and pseudo-psychotic about the Demons; it's because we've been drinking Natchitoches water too long. Anyway, most folks I know who are NSU grads and have nothing to do with the school have no organic connection to the university and only have a piece of paper. They were not really involved on campus and some commuted. They had no family who went there. I grew up in Section F, Row Q, Seat 16 of Turpin Stadium. I have roots that run deep and so I love my school. That can't be said for many people who attend our school.

They were able to get Shreveport media to treat them as a viable number 2 behind LSU while we were left with scraps. The interesting aspect of this statement is that the Tech fans loathe the Shreveport media and think Shreveport hates them and gives them zero respect.

This is so crazy. I grew up in Shreveport and heard nothing by Tech in the media my whole life. I got so sick of hearing it all. One of the most glorious moments of my childhood was after Tech made the jump to I-A (FBS) and went and played the Houston Cougars. They were so excited about how bad they were going to beat them. The Shreveport media was in all their glory promoting this one. Houston had an air raid siren they would play every time they scored. We tuned into KEEL to listen to the humiliation for a bit. Dave Nitz was crying as they heard that siren go off over and over and over and over that night. Oh yeah, Houston had a QB named.....hmmmm......what was his name? Oh yeah, Ware was his last name. Seems like he won a Heisman or something.

The social media marketing is gaining momentum worldwide. Just look at the thousands of sports influentials on Instagram and guess how much money they made. And as Gary Vaynerchuk said the social marketing is extremely underpriced now. And for the small investment, you can get a crazy return. Let's take a service called zen-promo for example zen-promo.com/follow_bot_instagram. For approximately $150 a year it can perform an automatic follow-like-like and than unfollow( after reaching the limits of the platform) algorithm over the whole city or even more. Given the number of people interested in sports around the world and the content you can create the perspectives are quite compelling for you.
