No game is a guaranteed win, for sure. Especially UCA who had Colorado down and almost out last year. But, we should, as a group, me included, step back from the ledge. SLU was just a bit better than us the first week of the season. If we played them in October, the results could be different. We all need to trust that Jay and company know what they are doing and the fact that you don't replace Zach Adkins, Deon Simon, Imoan Claiborne. Fred Thomas and Marion Chapman overnight. Once our QB scenario sorts itself out, and it will, and we find the right combination of linebackers, and we will, we will be just fine. I always said it would be year four or five before Jay's players make a playoff run. And he almost did it last year w Peve's players. Peve left us flat on our backs. Great guy, but a horrible head coach. You don't recover from that overnight ... unless you load up w transfers. Take heart that no SLC team has won a NC since NLU (ULM)in the late 80's. So, we're not being totally outdone by any other peer.

Every game we have left to play save Mississippi State is winnable. Now, the toughest ones left are obviously ULL and Sam Houston on the road. I mean, Sam dropped 45 points on Texas Tech in Lubbock last weekend and lost. Then there's UCA, McNeese and SFA in the next group and UIW, Nicholls, Lamar and Abilene in the next group. In saying that, we could lose to a lot of these teams. Let's just say we'll be 0-3 heading into the final eight games, of which four are more winnable, on paper, than the other four. It's up to us to have the moxie to go win two of the toughest four and hang on for dear life in the four more winnable games to have a winning season. But, as I said earlier, 6-5, 5-6 ... it's all the same. If you're not going to the playoffs, it doesn't count and once you're in the playoffs, if you don't win it all, it doesn't count. And if you win it all, it only counts for one year at a time. That is why the FCS is tough as nails. FBS teams, although more talented, are like divas when it comes to postseason. Almost everyone gets a trophy. It's a joke. In the end, we have work to do, so let's buckle in for the long haul. In order for us to get back to 1988, 1997, 1998, 2001, 2002 and 2004 status, we have some holes to fill and that takes time. We had a pretty good run for six out of 15 seasons and were close in six other seasons during that period. If we want to be honest, the past ten seasons, not counting this year, have just been mediocre to very bad. No other way around it.
